Empathy in the Workplace: Encouraging a Positive Work Environment

Join us in Eaton, Colorado for a new perspective on workplace relationships. This course focuses on engaging employees to encourage positive workplace behaviors and interactions to foster a professional and positive work environment. The course will explore “engaged” listening, listening to hear and understand other’s perspectives, understanding the emotional make-up of others and yourself as well as the role and importance of empathy within the organization.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
• Develop engaged listening skills
• Gain an understanding of emotional intelligence and its application in the workplace
• Create an environment where all ideas and perspectives are valued and heard
• Gain an understanding of the importance and value of empathy within an organization
About the Presenter:
Angela Setter, MPA, SPHR, SHRM-SCP
Project Consultant, CPS HR Consulting
Ms. Setter is a human resources operational planning and group facilitation expert, with a broad background in government and nonprofit organizations. As the director of Human Resources for a $48 billion-dollar public pension fund for 8 years, she managed and directed HR operations, training, and development including facilitating operational change management across the organization. As a member of the City of Laramie, WY leadership team, she designed and implemented a centralized Human Resources Department, facilitated and negotiated the development and implementation of a new employee handbook and a first time 2-year contract with the Fire Department. Ms. Setter is a graduate of Designing Dispute Resolution Systems and Mediating EEO, Personnel and Employee Relations Disputes from CDR in Boulder CO. She became a certified Leadership Coach from Pioneering Management Possibilities early in her career.
