Every year, we reimburse members for hundreds of thousands of dollars in purchases made for safety support, and more recently, COVID-19 prevention. Our Safety and Loss Prevention and COVID-19 Grants may be used to reimburse an estimated 50%-100% of purchases made to improve safety or reduce risk for your district. Submitting a Safety or COVID-19 Loss Prevention Grant is a simple process; here are a few factors to keep in mind.

What can I use a Safety Grant for?

Countless items can be used to offer additional safety measures for your district; these items may include security cameras, personal protective equipment, training programs and more. In some respects, you are limited only by your imagination when it comes to submitting a safety grant application.

Here are just a few weather-specific safety grant submission ideas:

  • Flood barriers and watershed projects
  • Fire exit upgrades, smoke detectors and sprinkler systems
  • Snow plows for trucks, snow chains, winterizing supplies
  • Lightning suppressors and storm shutters
  • Hail and wind-resistant building upgrades, car covers for hail protection
  • Field communications gear, excavation safety gear, first aid kits

Additional eligible programs for members include:

  • TargetSolutions for Fire & EMS – Featuring training and safety courses of all types. (Note: Other CSD Pool members can utilize TargetSolutions free of charge.)
  • SKIDTRUCK driver trainings – SKIDTRUCK provides an immersive driver training experience, allowing participants to experience hazards on the road in real-world situations.
  • Daupler – Geared towards water, wastewater, and related districts, Daupler provides efficient and effective 24/7/365 call answering and response software for cities, municipalities, towns, and more.

What can’t I use a Safety Grant for?

If you’re ever unsure if a purchase qualifies for either grant, just check with us at info@csdpool.org. Here is a short list of purchases which are ineligible for our Safety and Covid-19 Loss Prevention Grants.

  • SDA or other organization dues
  • Pool contributions or insurance premiums of any kind
  • Routine maintenance or repair costs
  • Payroll for any employee for any purpose
  • Covered claims and deductibles
  • Purchases made prior to availability of funds

When are additional funds allocated?

Additional funds are allocated to each district annually in March, and are dispersed based upon prior year’s contribution and longevity.

This year’s allocations are now available to all qualifying members. To obtain your current grant balance or estimated allocation amount, contact us at info@csdpool.org.

Unused funds usually expire every five years, however we have recently made an announcement deferring this year’s grant fund expirations until 2022.

How to apply for a Safety or COVID-19 Grant

Applying for either grant is a quick and easy process.

  • Fill out the application form for the Safety or Covid-19 Grant at the top of our Safety Grant page.
  • Make sure you attach the proof of purchase for the full amount requested, this can be either a receipt or an invoice.
  • Each district has a designated representative or alternate representative who will need to approve the purchase. If the grant request is submitted by an alternative district member, we will contact you for these additional approvals.

And that’s all folks! Feel free to contact your team at the CSD Pool for more details. As always, our goal as your risk management partner is to support you in providing the safest experience possible for your district.
