Each March, Safety and Loss Prevention Grant funds that remain unused five years after their initial allocation expire. Members with expiring funds typically receive several emails notifying them that funds are set to expire, reducing their total grant balance.

However, due to the unprecedented hardship created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the CSD Pool Board has voted to defer grant fund expirations for one year.

What Does This Mean for My District?

We know it’s been a hard year for most districts. If your district has unused funds that would have expired in March of 2021, these expirations will not be processed. Instead, your district representatives will receive an email indicating:

  • The amount that would have expired
  • Your district’s current grant balance
  • Directions for completing a grant application
  • Ideas for qualifying purchases

Any grant funds that remain unused five or more years after their initial allocation will expire on March 31, 2022.

How Do I Use My Allocated Funds?

Safety and Loss Prevention Grant funds can be used to reimburse up to 50 percent of purchases that improve safety or reduce risk for your organization. You can find the reimbursement form, program details, and a list of purchase ideas on our Safety Grant webpage.

Special COVID-19 Reimbursement Rate

As part of our continued effort to mitigate the impact of the pandemic, we are extending our special COVID-19 reimbursement rate indefinitely. Instead of the standard reimbursement rate of up to 50 percent, members can elect to be reimbursed at up to 100 percent of their total purchase cost, as long as the purchase is related in some way to COVID-19.

Examples of approved purchases include sanitizing products, cleaning services, PPE, equipment that facilitates adequate social distancing in the office, and equipment or software that allows employees to work from home. To elect the special rate, complete the COVID-19 Grant Application on our Safety Grant webpage.

Note that like the standard reimbursement, the COVID-19 reimbursement is limited to your district’s current available grant balance. To obtain your current grant balance, or if you have any additional questions, please email us at info@csdpool.org.
